17th June; N47°28 E3°45; Vezelay, with hotel owners car

Sun, Jun 17, 2001; by Udena Internet.

previous day - next day

Sun and rain.

bourgogne: the view from the basilika remparts

Had planned to spend the day partly with bicycle repairs, (front pannier racks) and test the bike afterwards with some trips around the countryside in the general direction of Vezelay, travelling light with only one pannier bag.

However the hotel owner offered me the use of her car during the day, after some initial astonishment I said, yes thank you very much; and set off in her Nissan. Made it to Vezelay, and will tour some more villages and also art galleries during the afternoon.

Basilique: the Basilque Sainte Madeleine, on the Unesco world heritage list, and it also brought Vezelay back to life after massive restoration work in the 1840 ties.

Weather is improving also, and the weather forecast for tomorrow is that the wind will turn north. I plan to push on in the general direction of Autun tomorrow (by bicycle).
