16th June; N47°42 E3°59; Noyers Sur Serein

Sat, Jun 16, 2001; by Udena Internet.

Inge is unable to send a page himself today, because he found himself in a small village that has no mobile phone coverage whatsoever. He promised, by land line, to make up for it on the next report.

Our correspondent reports that todays was hard riding against the wind, but he still made about 95km. He will likely stay 2 nights because tomorrow he will spend a day cycling, without panniers, around the nearby villages of Bourgogne. Chablis was mentioned.

Meantime, other travellers have reported that the Noyers Sur Serein is one of 100 most beautiful villages in France. See the official home page for details.

I was lucky to come across this beautiful village Noyers-sur-Serein during my visit to France and even more lucky as I stayed in the village during a Master Class of the flute to which students had come from many corners of the world to be tutered by a world famous flutist.

The Hotel I stayed in I have to say was a wonderful experience as the owner of the Hotel de la Vieille Tour was a marvellous chef and the food the very best I had in France. Also the small hotel had excellent friendly staff and over 8 languages were spoken including English.

The owner has over the years built up a clintel who return again and again to this beautiful village. I had the pleasure of dinning with interesting guests from as far a field as Iceland and Japan to just name a few.

The house wine is excellent to add to the joy of staying and tea in the garden overlooking the river Serein a lovely family affair.

I only wished I could stay longer.

If you want to leave happier than you arrived at a small French Hotel then treat yourself to a visit to the Hotel I found in Noyers sur Serein....Type your comment here
