29th May; N52°40 E4°38; Bergen aan ZeeTue, May 29, 2001; by Inge Johannessen.
Got a handlebar bag today, as well as Shimano bicycle shoes, and also a bicycle computer that did not work. The computer probably did, the problem was that it did not get any impulses from the sensor. Either the connection is broken or the magnet is dead. Based upon years experience with Windows systems the first thing I tried of course was to boot the (bike)computer, this time that did not help. I am going back to Bike Action tomorrow for a replacement, and also to have pannier bags fitted. However with a bag for equipment other electronic aids could be taken along, the Garmin Etrex GPS navigator functioned OK also in its new role as bike computer. Started from Kooltuin on a training trip in the direction of Bergen, after beautiful park scenery between Bergen and Bergen aan Zee I made it to the coast and to the North See. At least today the place was an argument for the Mediterranean instead, few sunbathers to be seen among the beach chairs.
From BaanZee onwards through the dune landscape to Egmond aan de Hoef, from there to Heiloo and back to Alkmaar. Difficult to say anything about distances since bike computer failed, according to the map total distance should be about 25 to 30 km. Without pushing anything and riding at sustainable speed the Mercian (and rider) do about 20 to 22 km/hour with no wind. With a tailwind average speed could probably be increased to 25 km/h or even higher. With headwind speed would drop to somewhere between 15 to 20 km/h, at least as long as it does not blow force 7. The (previously) broken foot causes no problems and everything feels OK.
goede dag ik was toevallig op zoek naar de gps gegevens van egmond aan zee maar ik vond bergen leuk |
