The thin orange lineSat, May 26, 2001; by Inge Johannessen.Nederland & Belgium:
From Alkmaar along the coast on fietsroute #1, to den Haag and to Vlaardingen west of Rotterdam. From Vlaardingen ferry across the Rotterdam harbour area, onwards over the islands and the dykes at the Rhine delta; to Middelburg and Vlissingen. Ferry from Vlissingen to Zeeland and to Belgium. Through Belgium probably via Brugge and Rosselare, and crossing into France somewhere around Lille - Roubaix. France
France is a big place, maybe the biggest (after THHGTTG) Although things may go more or less as planned through Nederland and Belgium, France is as mentioned a big place and small detours may lead to bigger ones. There will certainly be minor and also major changes to the planned itinerary as described below. However in order to have some ideas of how long this is going to take and also about how to get there eventually, a plan is IMHO needed. So this is the through France to Aix plan. Check out on the road for how closely real life will imitate this: Lille - Valenciennes - Guise - Laon - Reims - Epernay - Gourgancon - Troyes - Tonerre - Vezelay -Lormes - Autun - Montceau-les-Mines - Macon - Villefranche sur Saône - Lyon - Vienne - Valence - Grignan - Valreas - Mirabel aux Baronnies - Malaucène - Mont Ventoux - Sault - and possibly if there is time a detour to Grand Canyon du Verdon before Aix
I see that you title the map as the Nederlands ,where as in the map itself it is Netherlands are both of these in use ,which is the more commonly used by Deuch persons ,can you help ? Thanks.
I've ridden over a lot of this on a (fast) motorbike. This is a very long way.
