25th June, N44°10 E5°8; Malaucène, nothing to write home about

Mon, Jun 25, 2001; by Udena Internet.

previous day - next day

Hot enough for June.

closetoMalaucene: the scenery close to Malaucene, on the back to Malaucene from the roundtrip

Tested things with a quiet ride around the small mountain area to the west of Malaucène today, it was very warm and very beautiful. 60 kilometres logged (without any bags this time, just carried the most basic repair tools as extra), and with an average speed somewhat higher than yesterday (it would have been embarrassing if not). Logged a total of 1609 kilometres since Alkmaar when I returned back to the hotel, 1000 miles. Well, that is at least something. I'll probably add another 150 kilometres to that before Aix and that will be it. It is too hot for the mountain, at least for an old man. There is a limit to how much I want to stimulate the sales of cold Perrier around these parts; today the consumption was something like one bottle on average every 8 kilometres.

closetoSeguret: on my way around the denteilles de Montmirral, with Seguret in the background

Do not know anything about local temperatures, except that when I was in an air-conditioned bar in Gigondas, the thermometer on the inside showed 32C. That was noticeable cooler than on the outside.

Bonjour Inge,

I read through most of your adventures and must say it sounds like you've had a fab trip. This trip sounds like one of the nicest ways to travel down to the mediteranian, and i'm quiet jealous of the way you have spent most of june compared to mine in front of my usual desk and pc. I'd like to wish you a really nice time with your wife and friends in the following weeks and hope to hear a life report in August!

Heel veel groeten,

willemijn
